ALTAMONT — The village is once again planning to host its annual Victorian Holiday celebration. Organized by Altamont Community Tradition, the celebration — on Sunday, Dec. 10, from noon to 5 p.m. — is a family event that attracts visitors from across the Capital Region.

Employees at Atlas Copco held a competition who could bring in the most non-perishable foods in efforts to donate to St. Matthews Church in Voorheesville.

Sue Furdon, an Albany Medical Center nurse practitioner with more than 30 years of experience, has received the Navigator Award from the National Association of Neonatal Nurses.

Neil Yager, a doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and an interventional cardiologist, has joined Albany Medical Center’s Division of Cardiology and has been appointed assistant professor of cardiology at Albany Medical College.

For the holiday season, First New York Federal Credit Union is collecting rolls of toilet paper at all branches and at its company headquarters. The rolls will be shared with Catholic Charities Tri-County Services, an agency made up of programs that assist the needy with the basic necessities of life.

Federal funding will be available, beginning Nov. 13, for elderly New Yorkers and low- and moderate-income residents who need help heating their homes.

The Home Energy Assistance Program is making $327 million in federal funding available to eligible  New Yorkers to help cover heating costs.

BERNE — The Berne-Knox-Westerlo Secondary School is excited to announce the formation of a Future Farmers of America chapter. The FFA is an organization that provides agricultural, educational, and leadership opportunities for students and young adults across the country.

Aleeya Healey, M.D., a developmental behavioral pediatrician, has joined Albany Medical Center’s Department of Pediatrics. She was also appointed assistant professor of pediatrics at Albany Medical College and director of the developmental behavioral pediatric residency medical education program.

Robert Loucks is unfazed by complaints lodged against the Invents Company, which he believes will help him realize his dream of bringing the ladder stabilizer he invented to market.
