“It’s nice to ease our families” said Army veteran Justin Byrnes of calling home. Byrnes served in Afghanistan in 2013 and 2014 as a combat medic with the 10th Mountain Division. Behind him, at left, is Vietnam veteran Ed Ackroyd of Knox. Byrnes spoke at a press conference at Crossgates Mall to announce AT&T’s month-long partnership with the not-for-profit Cell Phones for Soldiers to let servicemen and women speak to their families. AT&T will give donated phones worth more than $5 two-and-a-half hours of talk time. In Albany County, phones may be donated at Crossgates Mall, the Guilderland Public Library, the Altamont Free Library, The Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Public Library, and the Albany County Sheriff’s Office.
