On a cold and rainy Tuesday afternoon, the Voorheesville boys’ and girls’ varsity outdoor track teams battled the Albany Academies, Watervliet, and Cobleskill-Richmondville at home. 

The Voorheesville Blackbirds had a tough time against the Lansingburgh Knights on Monday afternoon at Lansingburgh High School in a Colonial Council matchup. The Blackbirds are 1-3 on the year after losing, 6 to 0, on Monday.

The weather mangled schedules for the Guilderland varsity baseball and softball teams this spring season. The Guilderland baseball team has played only two games, both wins, so the Dutchmen are 2-0 overall. The softball team has played three games and is 1-2 overall.

After a rough loss on Saturday against Section 1 Yorktown, 18 to 10, the Guilderland girls’ lacrosse team rebounded on Sunday against John Jay, the 23rd-ranked team in New York State from Section 1, with an 8-to-6 victory at the University at Albany.

On Wednesday, April 12, Voorheesville's Jennifer Gregg signed her letter of Intent to play Division 1 hockey at RPI.

The Bulldogs had their first outdoor track meet on Tuesday, April 11, against Schoharie where the Bulldogs split. The boys’ team lost, 67 to 45, and the girls’ team won, 79 to 56.

Special Olympics New York, State Summer Games is seeking community members to volunteer during the upcoming 2017 State Summer Games, hosted by Siena College from June 16 to 18, as well as sponsors to help defray competition costs for athletes participating in this year’s events.

It’s the start of a new season for the Voorheesville boys’ lacrosse team with a new attitude under a new coach.

Guilderland smashed Columbia, 9 to 0, on Monday, April 3, to start the 2017 spring season at home.
