As the weather changed, the play on the gridiron rose for Guilderland, Oct 21., and Voorheesville, Oct. 22, football teams during sectionals.

In the Class B sectionals, the Voorheesville Boys soccer team made a statement it's in it to win it by upsetting the top team in the class Broadalbin-Perth on Tuesday, October 25, while the girls team made it all the way to the semifinals and lost to last years state champion Schalmont on Wednesd

Guilderland preserved its stellar record this season, largely with a strong defense against Bethlehem in the Class AA sectional quarter final. The Dutch won, 12 to 7.

Voorheesville Central School District, Blackbirds, soccer, sectionals, Rebecca Gregg

The Blackbirds won Friday afternoon over Broadalbin-Perth in the Class B sectional opening-round game at home. 

The Voorheesville Varsity cross-country team faced in their last home duel on senior day at Wallace Park on Tuesday afternoon where they faced Lansingburgh and Catholic Central.

 

Inching closer to sectionals, the Guilderland and Voorheesville varsity volleyball teams are playing hard every game for a good seed during games on Thursday October 13th and October 21st respectively.

 

Playing hard for a good sectional seed, the Guilderland boys’ soccer team did well last Saturday afternoon, Oct 8, at home against Colonie.

The Bulldogs got tamed last Friday evening, Oct 7, at Middleburgh High School.

A wet and soggy homecoming Friday evening at Voorheesville saw both the boys’ and girls’ soccer teams battled through the raindrops to victory.

On Saturday, Oct. 1, the Voorheesville Blackbirds and Mechanicville Red Raiders battled to see who would win the Central Division title at home.

On Sept. 29, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo high school held it's second annual sports hall of fame ceremony. 

BERNE — The Berne-Knox-Westerlo Parent-Teacher Association will host the second annual Jean Forti Run for Education 5K and Family Fun Run on Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Thompson's Lake Campground.  A new course has been designed for participants to follow.
