To the Editor:

Hi, my name is Micah Tindale and I believe that Altamont Elementary School should not be closed to save money. Altamont Elementary School is a great school and kids look forward to coming here when they graduate from pre-school. I know I was really excited on my first day.

To the Editor:

I am Ty Santabarbara.  I go to Altamont Elementary School. I believe that we should not shout down any schools like Altamont Elementary, because it will be a longer bus ride to get to a different school and that will waste gas and money.

To the Editor:

Hi, I am Katrina Rucinski. I am a student from Altamont. I think Altamont is one of the best schools in the in the world.

To the Editor:

How about exploring, in a very tentative way, consolidation of services for the state, county, town, and even school districts by having the state and county highway departments contracting to the town to have the highway mowing done by the town?

In 1976, the Guilderland School Board of Education considered the possibility of closing the Altamont Elementary School due to declining enrollment and to avoid an increase in the school tax rate.

To the Editor:

Altamont has been my home for the past 30 years, and is now the place I plan on raising my son. Superintendent Marie Wiles recently felt it necessary to use her “power” to hire a generously paid consultant to make suggestions to address the fiscal concerns in the Guilderland School District.

To the Editor:

I read with great dismay your article about the possible closing of the Altamont Elementary School.  My husband and I moved to Altamont in 2005, and, although we are relatively new residents, we love our home and value our community here in Altamont.

To the Editor:

The Guilderland Parks Department deserves a big "Thank You!"

To the Editor:

The Altamont Free Library is pleased to invite everyone to our Summer Concert Series.

Once again, we will present six Tuesday-evening concerts in Orsini Park, beginning July 1 and ending Aug. 5. We have put together a nice array of performers that will appeal to a wide audience of all ages.

To the Editor:

My wife, Kristin, and I read with dismay the recent headline concerning the possible closing of Altamont Elementary School.

John Boyd Thacher was one of the most distinguished and revered Albanians of his day. He was born at Ballston, Saratoga County on Sept. 11, 1847, the elder son of George Hornell and Ursula Jane (Boyd) Thacher. His father married his mother in 1843. She was the daughter of David Boyd, Esq. of Schenectady.

To the Editor:

How much longer are we going to let the National Rifle Association run our country?
