Guilderland

To the Editor:

Our most sincere thanks to the Altamont Veterans of Foreign Wars Post for hosting the memorial and arranging the military honor guard held in honor of our beloved husband, father, uncle, grandfather Edward Paul Cowley.

Guilderland's successful volleyball season ended in the semifinals last Thursday after four competitive sets with Bethlehem.

With scientists showing the public the emerging applications of their fields, the seventh annual celebration of NANOvember is hosted by the Colleges of Nanoscale Science and Engineering at SUNY Polytechnic Institute. It started with an open house on Nov. 1 and will feature a Family Day on Nov. 22.

Although Guilderland had lost most of its line-up from its championship season last year, new players stepped up and came close to the high bar, losing its playoff match, 1 to 0.

“On a Friday or Saturday night, more people want to laugh than be emotionally drained," says Andy Maycock, the Guilderland High School teacher who is directing students in a madcap  British comedy, on stage this weekend.

Human beings need to relate to one another in person, not just virtually, but for real. Seeing and hearing players on a stage can expand our understanding of humanity.

The members of the Boyd Hilton Ladies’ Auxiliary would like to say thank-you to all who, once again, make our Chicken ’n’ Biscuit Dinner a success.

Last week, all of the property owners in the Guilderland School District received their tax-freeze rebate checks.  Ours was a big whopping $56 and was a “reward” for the school board staying under the 2-percent tax cap.  But it got us thinking, what is the cost of this check?

To the Editor:

A special thank-you to those of you who attended our First Annual Punkintown Scare this past weekend!  We had a fantastic turnout on both evenings, even with the cold rain on Saturday night.
