Altamont Community Tradition is very excited to see so many local businesses participating in this year’s Victorian Holiday celebration.

Troop 50 Scouts from St. Madeleine Sophie Church held their annual holiday food drive on Nov. 15.

Troop 50 would like to say thank-you to all who helped us in our goal. We collected 3,386 food items.

The food will go to the St. Madeleine Sophie food bank to help the needy in our area.

Robert “Bob” Gould, who spent his career at IBM, was a devoted family man who lived by the lessons he taught his children.

Change can be a good thing.

GUILDERLAND — A controversial consultant’s report led to a collegial forum on Nov. 19 as 74 district residents participated in the first summit on the future of Guilderland schools.

Charles Carrow is encouraging the Guilderland Town Board to extend the zoning for general business so that a Cumberland Farms can be built at the intersection of routes 146 and 20.

When I was a little girl we learned about the Pilgrims and the Native Americans with stories about the hard winters and bountiful summers. Of course, we would decorate pumpkins and make costumes representing the Native Americans and the Pilgrims.

President Barack Obama will pardon two turkeys to promote the turkey industry. Every one of us can exercise that same pardon power by choosing a nonviolent Thanksgiving observance. It’s a most fitting way to give thanks for our own life, health, and happiness.

Altamont Boy Scout Troop 264 would like to thank the Altamont community for generously supporting the annual food and can drive to stock the shelves of the Altamont Food Pantry and to support troop activities.
