As facts slowly come to light on the murder of two Guilderland Elementary students and their parents, the staff is helping their classmates and each other work through their grief with care and compassion.

GUILDERLAND — The Guilderland Police have dealt with five homicide cases in the last 27 years.

Unlike the current investigation of murder of a family of four, the earlier Guilderland homicides, each involved one victim and were solved relatively rapidly without so many different police agencies involved.

A fourth-quarter comeback by Ballston Spa last Friday made Guilderland's bad football season even worse.

ALTAMONT — Monday morning, Bette Cowley had a lifetime of treasures spread out on the bed she and her husband had shared for decades. Ed Cowley died on Saturday morning, Oct. 11, 2014. He was 89.

ALTAMONT — Trevon Perez-Tucker, of Altamont, was named Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Week for the Ithaca College soccer team last week.

BERNE — The Berne-Knox-Westerlo girls’ volleyball team has been playing well lately, winning its host tournament on Oct. 4, and then beating Middleburgh in straight sets (25-9, 25-17, and 25-14) on Oct. 8.
