Local drivers, both experienced and new to demolition derbies, can participate in the event at the Altamont Fair. Two winners from each of the first four rounds will crash into one another at the championship event, until the last car running wins.

On Tuesday evening at Tawasentha Park, the Guilderland Police Department put on the 10th annual National Night Out that meant to encourage crime prevention, which included a bounce house, pony rides, a petting zoo, games, and demonstrations.

On Monday morning, members of the Albany Pine Bush employees took part of a continent-wide MAPS research, meant to help in the conservation of birds and their habitat. MAPS stands for Monitoring Avian Productivity and Survivorship.

ALBANY COUNTY — Justin Balicki, 26, of Albany, pleaded guilty to first-degree vehicular assault, a felony, for a car crash in Guilderland in May.

He appeared before Judge William A. Carter in Albany County Court on Thursday morning.

After last year, the Altamont Fair's director said that she learned to have back-up plans for her back-up plans.

In federal court on Wednesday, Thomas Lagan, the former business partner and co-conspirator of Guilderland town judge Richard Sherwood, pleaded guilty to money-laundering and tax charges.

GUILDERLAND — Linda Louise Carberry, a professional caregiver who was devoted to her daughter and granddaughter, died peacefully at home in her sleep on Monday, Aug. 5, 2019.

“Linda was an exceptionally kind person, with a wonderful, off-beat sense of humor,” said her oldest sister, Kathy Dillon. “She was quick-witted.”
