Photos: Ten Dutch Wrestle to the Next Level

Guilderland finished fourth, with 129 points, in the Class A sectionals Saturday at Bethlehem High School with 10 wrestlers earning a chance to compete at next week’s state qualifiers in Glens Falls. Meanwhile, Berne-Knox-Westerlo wrestlers participated in the Class D sectionals in Whitehall, finishing 11th with 31 points. BKW’s Tyler Goodemote won the 182-pound weight class. Goodemote along with Guilderland’s Zach Harrison, Sean Collins, Justin Lamb, Myles White, Britt Francis, Cameron Durant, Marcus Berroa, Dylan Carl, Zack Hagen, and James Hough will wrestle at Glens Falls, battling for a chance to compete at the state championships, to be held Feb. 28 and 29 at the Times Union Center in Albany.

Hand battle: Guilderland's Marcus Berroa grapples with Schenectady’s E-Sonne Ponzo in the first period in the quarterfinal 132-pound class. Berroa pinned Ponzo in 2:51 then fell in the finals to Ben Catrambone.

Air time: Guilderland's Dylan Carl gets lifted by Shaker’s Vincenzo Federici in the quarterfinal match in the 113-pound weight class in the first period. Carl went on to pin Federici in 4:46 then lost in the next round but came back to finish fourth.

Ready to go: Guilderland's Sam Sosnovsky after shaking hands with Shaker’s Austin Sill prior to their Class A 120-pound quarterfinal match looks ready to pounce. Sosnovsky lost to Sill by pinfall in 52 seconds but battled back to finish sixth.

Making his moves: Guilderland's James Hough gets ready for a hand battle against Albany’s Muiz Bayewu in the first period in the quarterfinals of the 138-pound match. Hough got pinned by Bayewu in 3:53 but wrestled to a fifth-place finish.
