Guilderland

To the Editor:

A hearty thank-you to everyone involved in preparing the take-out roast-turkey dinner at the Helderberg Lutheran Church in Berne.

To enjoy a complete, delicious roast-turkey dinner in the warmth and comfort of our own home on a wet, rainy evening last Saturday was great.

The Guilderland Senior Services is offering the following activities the week of Sept. 22. Call the senior office at 356-1980, ext. 1048 with any questions or for information.

Wow! What a night! Last Tuesday, we attended an apron presentation at the Noah Masonic Lodge on Maple Avenue. As a mason Jim would have gone to the meeting anyway, but this was a very special meeting. This meeting was preceded by dinner and was open to family and friends of those who were receiving aprons.

Many kinds of gaits and gazes greeted the new school year at Westmere Elementary in Guilderland.

Ann-Marie McManus, who describes herself as "an educator through and through," left behind the classroom she loved to become an assistant principal at Guilderland High School.

GUILDERLAND — A Guilderland man was arrested Friday on six counts of promoting a sexual performance of a child, a felony, and more charges may follow.

ALTAMONT — Carole Ann Lindell, a mother and grandmother who loved her family and her village home, died on Saturday, Sept. 6, at Riverside Nursing Home in Castleton following a long illness. She was 72.

Mrs. Lindell lived in the same house in Altamont for 40 years, and raised 10 children.

GUILDERLAND — Scott LoBaido travels the country painting American flags in tribute to those who protect his freedom.

This week, he painted a three-dimensional mural on the brick wall of Town ‘N’ Country Lanes, on Western Avenue, to honor Major General Harold J. Greene, who was shot and killed in Afghanistan in August.

GUILDERLAND — Several years ago, Guilderhaven Inc. took under its wing (pun intended) Joyce Perry’s wildlife rehabilitation program. We like its educational aspect and the caring and compassionate work that it does.
