GUILDERLAND CENTER — Jean Bryson McCracken sewed not just to clothe her family but to engender in her daughters a creative spirit.

She died on Monday, June 22, 2015, twenty years after the death of her beloved husband. She was 86.

ALTAMONT — Born on a Hilltown farm, Ruth E. Quay was a loving homemaker and devoted mother. Late in life, she ranched in New Mexico before returning to the Helderbergs, which she loved.

She died on Thursday, June 25, 2015, during a brief stay at the Albany County Nursing Home. She was 77 years old.

The district recommended raising pay as Guilderland has struggled to find enough substitute teachers.

The former Helderberg Reformed Church minister will set up a new household while waiting for inspiration on how to spend his retirement.

The daughter of a resident called a Guilderland Center Nursing Home administrator and explained her concerns, she said, but received no explanations and no information.

“My goal is to inspire women of all ages that it’s never too late to accomplish your dreams,” Erin Ford said in a press statement.

Thomas registered a blood alcohol content of .21 on a chemical test.

“Everything was 100 percent,” said Steve Oliver, highway superintendent. “We are still not really sure about the how, what, and why of the accident.”

GUILDERLAND — For the third time in four years, the Guilderland High School Boys’ Tennis team has been named the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Scholar-Athlete State Champions, with a team average of 98.4 percent.

GUILDERLAND — The McKownville Fire District will be changing its July meeting time from July 1 to June 29 at 6 p.m. in order to accommodate business that needs to be done in a timely manner, according to the commissioner’s secretary, Lori Becker.
