Photos: Six Dutch Wrestlers Advance

Getting one step closer to battling for a New York State title was on the minds of Guilderland wrestlers last Saturday at Ballston Spa High School for the Class A championships. Guilderland will send six — each finished in the top six — to the State Qualifiers at Glens Falls Civic Center next Saturday and Sunday.

Finishing third for the Dutch, David Wolanski as he took on William Gorman from Ballston Spa in the 126-pound weight class quarterfinal. Wolanski won by pin in four minutes and 27 seconds but lost to eventual champion Kiernan Shanahan from Shenendehowa in the semi-finals.

Also finishing in third was teammate Sean Hourihan in the 182-pound weight class. Hourihan beat Jerome Hall from Bethlehem by pin in the first round but also lost to eventual champion Kevin Parker from Shenendehowa.

Twisting his opponents arm: Taylor Mooney qualified fifth in the 170-weight class, who finished fifth last Satruday. Here, Mooney tries to Colin Derboghossian from Schenectady over onto his back but lost to Derboghossian by pin in 33 seconds in the first round.

Down to the last second: Kevin Ochs who finished fifth in the 132-weight class will compete this weekend. Here, Ochs battles with Wyatt Gorman of Ballston Spa in an intense match but lost 11 to 8 in the quarterfinals.

Ready...fight! Evan Pollard, finished sixth in the 152-weight class, as he battles with Joe Mather of Ballston Spa in the Class A quarterfinal where he beat 5 to 0.

Quick hit: Jason Falvo, who finished fourth in the 195-weight class, took on Dustin Bruhns from Shenendehowa where Falvo got pinned in 35 seconds.
