The next step for each of the athletes on the Guilderland, Voorheesville, and Berne-Knox-Westerlo indoor track teams is to compete in this Sunday’s state qualifiers for a chance to head to the state competition on March 2 on Long Island.

The Guilderland-Voorheesville boys’ swim team, in the Section 2 championships at Shenendehowa High School in Clifton Park on Friday and Saturday, looked to lock down more qualifications for the March 1 and 2 state competition.

The State of the Town event was held at Crossgates’ Lucky Strike Social on Tuesday, Feb. 12.

Rapp Road Historical Association showed a presentation of their migration of their history on Feb. 12. The national theme for Black History Month this year is “Black Migrations.”

The Lego Americana Roadshow will be at Crossgates Mall until Feb. 24.

ALTAMONT — Ella E. Armstrong was a woman with deep commitments — to her long-time work as a dental hygienist teacher in the Guilderland schools, to her church, to her fire department auxiliary, and to her family. She died on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2019. She was 94.

Carlos Quinones, 16 at the time, was also arrested on Oct. 1, 2018 on rape and other felony charges. The date of his earlier arrest is the same day that Raise the Age legislation went into effect in New York State, making it possible for many 16-year-old defendants to have their cases heard in Family Court. Raise the Age did not apply to Quinones' case for several reasons, said Cecilia Walsh of the Albany County District Attorney’s Office.

This change is intended to create more social connections for kids while they still have a team of four teachers who can help ease the transition for them, says FMS principal Michael Laster.
