Beth Oldrich, author of “Book Folding for Beginners and Beyond” and daughter of B’nai Sholom members Bruce and Edith Goldstein of Voorheesville, will teach a workshop on the art of book folding.

 

GUILDERLAND — Leonard E. Friebel of Old State Road, a proud veteran, died on Monday, Feb. 21, 2022. He was 73.

The victim, Daniel I. Maldonaldo, of Schenectady, was 33 years old. 

GUILDERLAND — The Guilderland Town Band is performing for its 52nd season, with its first concert scheduled for Thursday, June 23, at 7:30 p.m. at the Guilderland Performing Arts Center in Tawasentha Park.

Guilderland School Board President Seema Rivera said on June 14 she thought Guilderland was the first school district in the area to adopt such a resolution. “I’m really proud the students brought this to our attention. It’s a step in the right direction,” she said.

Guilderland students a quarter of a century ago joined a battle that still must be carried through today.

Seven Guilderland athletes, and one from Voorheesville, competed on June 10 and 11 against some of New York’s top student athletes for the state competition at Cicero-North Syracuse High School.

GUILDERLAND — Athena Wu, a Guilderland senior, has been awarded the Chancellor McGovern Scholarship, given to the child of State Education Department employees.

Wu has a 4.0 grade-point average and will attend Northeastern University to study neuroscience.

The festival will take place at the Altamont fairgrounds from June 24 to 26.
