At the May 17 town board meeting, Guilderland Supervisor Peter Barber told board members that he hopes to present them with a request for proposals in June for a contractor to run the comprehensive plan process for the town.

GUILDERLAND — Arthur “Arty” Waugh, a longtime Guilderland art teacher and legendary coach, died at St. Peter’s Hospital on Monday, March 7, 2022.

Lucille B. Kellie

ALTAMONT —  Lucille B. (née Shafer) Kellie, known as “Susie,” died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, May 18, 2022. She was 79.

She was the cherished wife of Robert Kellie, loving mother of Lisa, and beloved grandmother of Drew and Katie.

Lynnette Collier Sands

Lynnette Collier Sands, who loved the natural world and who took extreme joy in being a grandmother, died peacefully on Saturday, May 14, 2022, in her sleep at her home in Los Gatos, California. She was 69.

On Monday, May 23, Guilderland’s Mahen Bitkuri competed in the Section 2 individual championships at Central Park tennis courts in the finals. Bitkuri fell in straight sets; 0-6, 3-6, to Albany Academy’s Krishnadev Jammula but Bitkuri has qualified to June 2-4 NYSPHSAA state championships.

On Friday, May 20, the second seeded Guilderland Dutchmen baseball team opened the Section 2, Class AA sectionals at home against seventh seeded Saratoga Blue Streaks. Saratoga pitching held the Dutch to five hits and beat the Dutch 2 to 0.

In the end, seven residents launched write-in campaigns to serve on the 11-member board, which has unpaid posts.
