At its April 6 meeting, the Guilderland Zoning Board of Appeals passed a motion to proceed with an uncoordinated review of Bernard Radtke’s special-use permit application that would allow him to store roll-off containers, trucks, and heavy equipment at 4304 Frederick Road.

The Guilderland softball team played Schenectady on Tuesday on a sunny, breezy day. Guilderland led from the start and won 20 to 0 in five innings.

On Friday evening, April 8, the Guilderland boys’ lacrosse team traveled to Shaker High School to take on the Blue Bison in a rematch of the 2021 Class A sectional championship. The game went back and forth until the Dutch took the game-winning goal in overtime, beating Shaker 8 to 7.

On Feb. 23, Altamont was notified that a Feb. 17 sample from its Brandle Road wellsite contained 0.59 milligrams of manganese per liter; the maximum contaminant level allowed by the federal Environmental Protection Agency is 0.3 milligrams per liter. The village then resampled on March 8 and found levels were below the maximum level, at 0.28 milligrams per liter.

Guilderland residents, at a public hearing on May 17, will have a chance to weigh in on an updated local law that would codify the current practice of notifying residents within 500 feet or 750 feet of a proposed building project.

Guilderland, with rates locked in till the end of the year, is currently paying 5.6 cents per kilowatt hour. The current rate is about twice that.

GUILDERLAND — Police say a shooting in a Crossgates Mall parking lot on Sunday afternoon “appears to be an isolated incident.”

Wesley Hale, who uses medical marijuana to ease his pain, told the Guilderland Town Board on Tuesday, “You could go out in Guilderland in the black market and you could get marijuana.” But, he said, you wouldn’t know if it was safe — it could be laced with fentanyl.
