Two sisters are battling together as one faces cancer; the community is invited to support the cause.

At 70, Richard Stark, who wears all hats for the cemetery, looked for help from younger residents, worried he may have to close the association.

WESTERLO — Evelyn V. Bader, a devoted wife and mother, died at home on Saturday, March 7, 2015. She was 88.

WESTERLO — Following the town board’s approval of the fire company’s annual contract, a councilman’s attempt to require more information from the company for future budget requests was met with contention and tabled.

WESTERLO — Jean Frances Britton was a resolute woman who took her family on camping trips with the same regularity and determination she used learning to negotiate the pedals of farm machinery and church organs.

The town board will meet on Feb. 17 with the not-for-profit fire company, made up of volunteers, to discuss possible changes to their contract.

WESTERLO — Strong willed in whatever she did, Marilyn C. Nevins was thankful for her life and resolute in her faith.

She died on her birthday, Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015, in the home of her loving son John. She was 83.

WESTERLO —  The town had a winding road of indecision in 2014 as it grappled with what to do about high-volume hydraulic fracturing for natural gas and hesitated to approve bids for badly needed repairs to the highway garage.

Town Supervisor Richard Rapp said the town's accounting firm helped prepare the budget for the first time this year.

Albany County's emergency medical services coordinator, Brian Wood, said the third town that needed to bear the cost, Westerlo, of the program didn't agree to spend the money.
