Regional final

On Friday, Nov. 3, the Voorheesville Blackbirds traveled to Plattsburgh High School to take on Section 7’s Saranac for the right to play in the NYSPHSAA state semifinals in the regional championship. The Birds couldn’t get past the Spartans’ defense and fell 3-0.

The Blackbirds were one match away from a return trip to the state’s Final Four pool play in Glens Falls this weekend — and they clinched it, becoming regional champs for the second year in a row.

The magical run for the Voorheesville girls’ basketball team came to an end Saturday in a heart-pounding game.

It was a battle for the Guilderland girls’ lacrosse team last Saturday afternoon at Suffern Middle School against North Rockland from Section One. Guilderland had a late push in the second half, but the eight-goal difference after the first half was too much for the Dutch, who fell 13-10.

It was another classic matchup between Shenendehowa and Guilderland girls’ lacrosse. This time, the two teams met up in the Class A sectional final last Thursday afternoon at Mohonasen High School.
