I am raising a child with autism and am writing because April is Autism Awareness month, I submit the below article.

On Saturday, May 1, the Altamont PTA will hold the Albany area’s largest annual community sale.  Sales will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will be found throughout the entire area.

The event will take place rain or shine.

The Boyd Hilton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Altamont will be hosting its semi-annual Chicken ’n’ Biscuit Dinner on April 11, at the post at 11 Mill Street. Dinner will be served from 4 till 7 p.m.  The donation for the dinner will be $10 per person.

Having recently reconnected with some old Colonie and Guilderland friends, I was surprised to find that a lot of them didn’t share my distrust of big government. I had to realize that we all took different roads after high school.

The Wounded Warrior Project has chosen Albany for the sixth annual Memorial Day 100 relay marathon. This year’s run will take 30 Marine Corps veterans 138 miles, from the World War II Memorial in Albany to the Orange County Veterans Cemetery at Goshen, New York.

What has happened to Soldier On? 

This project is a not-for-profit initiative designed to provide housing and services for our veterans. It is to be located on county-owned property at the Shaker site in Colonie.

On behalf of the Kiwanis Club of the Helderbergs, I would like to thank all of the many people who helped make this year’s Maple Festival and Pancake Brunch a successful fundraiser and a fun community event.
