These local students were among more than 100 part-time students at the University at Albany to have a grade-point average of at least 3.5 in six graduation credits for the fall 2016 semester:

— Hannah Buckey of Altamont;

— Doug Clark of Schenectady;

— Ryan Frederick of Schenectady;

These local students have been named to the dean’s list or received a similar honor from their college or university for the fall 2016 semester:

— Mary Grace Barada of Delmar at Keene State College in New Hampshire;

— McKenzie Burns of Schenectady in the Class of 2020 at Bucknell University in Pennsylvania;

Nine years after voters in the Berne-Knox-Westerlo School District last approved a major capital project, they may be asked in May to approve another  multi-million-dollar bond issue for additional upgrades to the elementary and secondary buildings.

“There is clearly a copycat effect,” says a report on bomb threats by the Educator’s School Safety Network. Over the years at Guilderland, school leaders have had different responses to the threats.

GUILDERLAND —Six  Guilderland High School students were selected to perform in the Area All-State Music Festival, which will be held on Nov. 18 and 19.

Of 70 water outlets tested in the Berne-Knox-Westerlo school district, only one showed lead levels exceeding the state-required action level of 15 parts per billion.

GUILDERLAND — Three Guilderland High School seniors recently received letters of commendation for their outstanding performance on the 2015 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

On Monday, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo school board voted to approve the appointment of Mark  Pitterson as the secondary school principal; Annette Landry as principal of the elementary school, and Tom Galvin as long-term substitute dean of students and athletic director.

The Guilderland Teachers’ Association third annual back-to-school barbecue was held at Tawasentha Park on Sept. 8. Donations collected at the event were to be distributed to Capital District first responders.
