The Berne-Knox-Westerlo-Duanesburg girls swim team hit the pool at Mohonasen High School on Oct. 5 to take on the Albany Academy for Girls. BKW-Duanesburg swam to a 95-to-71 win.
The Berne-Knox-Westerlo-Duanesburg boys’ soccer team faced off against Middleburgh in a kick-off tournament at Middleburgh High School on Sept. 4. The Bulldogs had a hard time breaking through the defense in a 7-to-2 loss.
On Saturday, April 17, the Voorheesville Blackbirds football team took on crosstown rival Helderberg Valley, made up of players from Berne-Knox-Westerlo and Duanesburg, from the opening kickoff to the final whistle at Clayton A. Bouton. The Blackbirds won 37 to 13.
On March 26, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo/Duanesburg, made up of students from BKW and Duanesburg, girls swim team took to the pool against Mohonasen-Schalmont at Mohonasen High School for the team’s senior night.
Swimmers focused on qualifying for states as they competed on Nov. 7 through Nov. 9 at Shenendehowa. Guilderville, made up of Guilderland and Voorheesville swimmers, finished with 132 points and Helderberg Valley, made up of Berne-Knox-Westerlo and Duanesburg swimmers, finished with 295 points. A relay team and two individual swimmers from Guilderville will compete at states as will Abigael O’Donnell from Helderberg Valley.
The Helderberg Valley girls’ swim team, made up of Duanesburg and Berne-Knox-Westerlo students, charged into the pool at Mohonasen High School on Thursday afternoon to battle the Warriors.
The Helderberg Valley football team and Berne-Knox-Westerlo boys’ soccer team hit the field at home this week to play very physical games. The football team, made up of BKW and Duanesburg players, tried to stop Chatham’s running attack on Saturday but got flattened, 55 to 6.
The weather was cold and windy on Tuesday afternoon as the Berne-Knox-Westerlo track-and-field team faced off against Duanesburg at home. The teams did their best in the windy conditions where the BKW boys won, 72 to 49, and the girls lost, 83 to 46.
Berne-Knox-Westerlo boys are busy this season on the green and on the pitch. The soccer team beat Middleburgh, 2 to 1, in overtime at home on Friday afternoon, and the golf team golf team lost, 184 to 213, against Oppenheim-Ephratah-St.
