On Friday, Dec. 27, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo girls hosted their Holiday Tournament at home this past weekend. The Bulldogs played against Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk in the only matchup of the night due to teams pulling out. BKW started slow then used its defense to pull away in its 65-to-40 win.

Last Thursday, Feb. 22, the BKW Girls’ basketball team locked paws against the Panthers of Chatham in the Section 2, Class C sectional quarterfinal at Duanesburg High School. The Bulldogs had a small scare but pulled away late in the fourth to win, 59-to-37.

On Saturday, Feb. 17, the third-seeded Berne-Knox-Westerlo girls’ team hosted 14th seed Mekeel Christian Academy in the first round of the Section 2, Class C championships. The Bulldogs cruised to an easy 57-to-19 win to advance to play Thursday against 11th-seeded Chatham at Duanesburg.

The Berne-Knox-Westerlo girls’ basketball team hosted its holiday tournament at home this past Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 27 and 28. BKW cruised to the finals and its defense pounced on Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk, resulting in a 65-to-26 win.

On Thursday, Feb. 2, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo girls basketball team hosted a rescheduled game against Schoharie at Berne-Knox-Westerlo High School. The Bulldogs defense pounced all over the Indians from start to finish in their 63 to 18 win.

On Tuesday evening, Dec. 27, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo girls’ team held a seventh annual holiday tournament at home. BKW took on Loudonville Christian in the semifinals. From the opening tip to the final buzzer, the Bulldogs won, 73 to 12.

On Thursday February 25th, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo girls basketball team hosted Schoharie at home in a Western Athletic Conference matchup. The Bulldogs started slow in the first quarter but the Bulldogs showed their grit and left the Indians in the dust to win 64 to 27.

One critical shot or one mistake can lead a team to winning or losing when battling in sectional play to get closer to the finals. The Guilderland girls faced off against top-seeded Saratoga last Thursday at Saratoga High School.

Berne-Knox-Westerlo basketball fans packed the gym in Berne for a thrilling ride this past weekend as the Bulldogs battled to try to win Class C titles. On Friday, the boys, seeded 15th, suffered a close loss, 54 to 52, against Rensselaer, the 18th seed.

The Berne-Knox-Westerlo girls’ basketball team is back to full strength and winning ways.
