Berne-Knox-Westerlo basketball fans packed the gym in Berne for a thrilling ride this past weekend as the Bulldogs battled to try to win Class C titles. On Friday, the boys, seeded 15th, suffered a close loss, 54 to 52, against Rensselaer, the 18th seed. On Saturday, the girls, Western Athletic Conference champions, seeded fifth, had a thrilling game, pulling away midway through the fourth quarter to beat Chatham, the 12th seed, 49 to 39. On Wednesday, the BKW girls suffered an excruciating loss in the Class C sectional quarterfinals against Warrensburg. BKW led in the first two quarters but lost by a single point in the last four-tenths of a second, 57 to 56.
