We need your help to make Christmas merry for Hilltown families in need

To the Editor:

The Hilltowns Community Resource Center, a program of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Albany, is coordinating its annual holiday program. We are seeking individuals, families, organizations, and businesses interested in making Christmas a memorable one for our less fortunate families by providing clothing and gifts to a family in need during the December holidays.

Referral of families seeking holiday assistance are made to HCRC from schools, churches, community groups, and other service agencies. You may call the office to discuss options available in sponsorship.

Sponsors will be given a list from a family, stating its immediate needs and desires to use when shopping for a family. Cash donations for sponsorship are always very welcome.

We really need your help. If you are interested, please call the office at 797-5256 as soon as possible.

We also want to remember our seniors during the holidays. We are accepting contributions for the HCRC Holiday Fund for Seniors. This fund provides a senior with a little extra cash during the holidays.

With the support of the Helderberg Kiwanis and St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Delmar, we have served approximately 70 seniors by providing a food basket (meeting his or her dietary requirements), a small gift, and a small check. Anyone interested can make checks payable to HCRC with a notation in the memo “Senior Fund.”

We always welcome volunteers to help with sorting items and help with setting up the Christmas store in Woodman Hall; food drives are a big help to our pantry all year long. Please call HCRC with any questions, ideas or support.

Thank you for your continued support helping those in need.
