Anita Clayton is well trained to be my successor

To the Editor:

My purpose in writing this letter is twofold. First, I would like to thank the citizens of the town of Berne for having allowed me to serve as Berne town clerk for the past 34 years. It has been both an honor and a privilege.

Second, and more importantly, I am asking for your support in electing Anita Clayton to serve as my successor.

For the past eight years, Anita has served very capably in the position of my deputy. During that time, she also performed the duties of secretary to the planning board, zoning board, and building and zoning department.

Anita has taken advantage of many training opportunities offered by both New York State agencies and the New York State Town Clerks Association. Thanks to her commitment to this training, she will soon earn the designation of Registered Municipal Clerk. The breadth of her experience, along with her proven ability, make her uniquely qualified for this position.

It has been my pleasure to work with Anita. Her pleasant nature, cheerfulness and demonstrated work ethic will not only serve her well as town clerk, but will enable her to faithfully and skillfully serve the citizens of the town of Berne as an elected official.

Please join me in supporting my colleague and friend, Anita Clayton.

Thank you.
