Thanks for making the Punkintown Fair a success

To the Editor:

The New Salem Volunteer Fire Department would like to thank our community for its support of our 71st Annual Punkintown Fair!  We had fantastic crowds and great weather this year.

Special thanks to all of our volunteers who help make this fair possible.  It is impossible to list them all!

We would also like to thank our Raffle Prize sponsors who donated prizes for this year's raffle: The Holiday Inn Express, On-Tap Bar and Grill, The Hofbrau Restaurant, and Window Box Café.

Your contributions are greatly appreciated!  Smith's Tavern was also very generous in its donations for our pizza booth this year.

We would also like to congratulate our Grand Prize winner, PJ McCormick, from Voorheesville. She won this year's $2,500 cash prize, and she was generous enough to donate back a portion of those proceeds to the New Salem Volunteer Fire Department.  Congratulations, and thank you!

We look forward to seeing you all again next year at the 72nd Punkintown Fair!

More Letters to the Editor

January was a busy month for the Helderberg Ambulance Squad. There were 38 calls with 19 transports. The majority of these calls were medical. There were 24 calls in Berne and 14 calls in Knox. The Albany County Sheriff’s Office paramedic and the Guilderland paramedic rode with the squad on 10 calls.

Although there has already been one Guilderland Board of Education meeting in the fall where the district asked for input on the school budget, I am unsure what was the extent of public input. I actually am not sure if anyone spoke.
