Motorcyclist dies from crash

GUILDERLAND — A motorcyclist was killed on Friday morning after being hit by a car on Western Avenue.

Guilderland Police, in a release, described events unfolding this way: Makenzie Nauman, 25, of Schenectady, driving a sedan, was turning left into Dunkin’ Donuts at 1573 Western Ave. when the sedan struck a motorcycle traveling west on Route 20, driven by Joseph E. Gentile, 62, of Saratoga Springs.

Gentile suffered traumatic injuries and was transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. No other injuries were reported.

The collision is still under investigation. No charges had been filed on Friday. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor, the release said.

Guilderland Police Department, Guilderland Emergency Medical Services, and the Westmere Fire Department responded to the 6:43 a.m. call.
