KNOX — Debris has been cleaned from the ground, the roof secured, and the windows boarded up. But a group from Duanesburg High School has been planning to help Nicole Burian further, as her Bozenkill Road home is in need of major repairs after a tornado touched down in May.

ALBANY — Art is on the walls and on the tables at a new restaurant a block away from the buzzing Capitol building and the Fort Orange Club, opened last month in downtown Albany.

The restaurant’s proprietor, Bonnie Kohl, is a resident of Westerlo.

It has been a bit of a struggle so far for the Schoburg football team.

Tuesday, Sept. 9, the Old Men of the Mountain met at the Hilltown Café in Rensselaerville.  Unfortunately, this scribe was not in attendance, and this scribe had a bona fide excuse.

In 1869, Dr. W. W. Hall wrote The Guide-Board to Health, Peace and Competence, a 762-page book containing his recommendations for being happy and healthy. He summarized his entire book with:

SCHOHARIE — Sept. 20 and 21 will be the dates for the “Fall Antiques in Schoharie” show presented by the Schoharie Colonial Heritage Association in the historic village.

A special event on Sunday this year by the Schoharie Valley Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America will feature an exhibit of antique cars.

The extent to which the Native Americans were present in the John Boyd Thacher Park region of the Helderberg Escarpment is a question for many who visit there. It is believed that the first humans to set foot in this region were North Americans, migrating east.

These local students have recently distinguished themselves:

Sophie Theis of Guilderland, majoring in public relations, at the State University of New York College at Oswego has been awarded a Presidential Scholarship;

GUILDERLAND — Anita and Christopher Goutos celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at a party given by their children.

They were married at St. Luke’s Church in Schenectady on Aug. 21, 1954.

A little over a year ago, I took time off from work to accompany my wife to a doctor’s appointment.
