RENSSELAERVILLE — The town will hold its annual picnic on Sunday, June 2, from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., rain or shine, at the Medusa firehouse and park to celebrate the unity of its five hamlets: Cooksburg, Medusa, Preston Hollow, Potter Hollow, and Rensselaerville.

Research is being done locally to better diagnose Lyme disease, often caught by tick bites. The researchers are asking anyone who has a circular rash after being bitten to volunteer to have blood drawn.

Participants will be treated for Lyme free of charge.

Albany County’s jail has policies instructing employees on the use of force and of chemicals, but not on solitary confinement, according to information from an Enterprise Freedom of Information Law request. Chief Deputy William Rice said that is because solitary confinement isn’t used at the county jail.
