Eight vie for three board seats

BETHLEHEM — Eight candidates are vying for three seats on Bethlehem’s seven-member school board in a race not unusually crowded for the largely suburban district.

is making his first run for the school board because “the district needs to do better,” he says.

is running for her second term on the school board because, she said, “I think I can make a difference.”

, who spends a lot of time with kids and their parents in her practice as a pediatrician, could bring their voice to the school board, she said. 

is running to keep his seat on the school board because he’d like to build programs when the economy turns around.  He started his first term on the board three years ago, just as the recession was beginning.

VOORHEESVILLE — Always a leavening presence, William Hotaling was part of the village’s bedrock.  He died on Monday, May 2, 2011 at St. Peter’s Hospital surrounded by his family.  He was 69.
