Matilda M. Nagengast

EAST BERNE — Matilda Mary Nicklas Nagengast “entered eternal life on Saturday, Feb, 6, 2021,” her family wrote in a tribute.  She was 95.

 “Family and faith were a constant strength in her life,” the tribute said.

Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late George and Matilda Wilpers Nicklas.

Satellite internet is now available at some Hilltown addresses through the SpaceX program Starlink and, while the company indicates that greater coverage will be available before the end of the year, the price tag may prevent residents from taking advantage of the service.

Karen Stark, who coordinates the Helderberg Senior Services lunch program, says she doesn’t want the town’s seniors “to be at any risk at all” from people who would seek counseling services.

The department will receive an award from the Capital branch of the American Public Works Association’s New York Chapter.

The event is part of a series of food distributions held throughout the Capital District and organized by the Regional Food Bank, the Capital District Area Labor Federation, and Catholic Charities.

On Jan. 25, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo bowling team had a virtual match against Middleburgh at Town n’ Country lanes in Guilderland. The boys team fell 2.5 to 1.5, tied in total pins at 2,388, while the girls team fell 4 to 0, 2,991 to 1816 in total pins.

KNOX — Alison Somerset Snyder was “like a brilliant ray of sunshine,” said her mother, Deborah Mae Roberts.

No words can express the light that Alison brought to every moment, every person she encountered.
