HADLEY — A man with a “warm and wonderful smile,” Donald A. Heidrich, who owned the Western Beef House, died peacefully on Tuesday morning, March 15, 2016, at his home, surrounded by loving family and friends. He was 89.

The Annual St. Baldrick's event was held at Westmere Fire Department on March 20 to raise $85,986.54 dollars for the Melodies Center at Albany Medical Center for children with cancer and blood disorders.

GUILDERLAND — Agnes Theresa Graffeo (née Marotta), a loving wife and mother, died peacefully at home on Saturday, March 19, 2016, after spending an evening celebrating her birthday with her family. She was 88.

“The love and care of her husband and family was the focus of her life,” her family wrote in a tribute.

The preservation movement started with saving Mount Vernon and has its roots in what is typically called 'white man's history,' said Susan Herlands Holland of the Historic Albany Foundation.

Margit S. Cook’s “most joyous years,” her family wrote, “were spent raising her children and being with her family.”

ALTAMONT — Village Justice James R. Greene and Village Trustee Nicholas Fahrenkopf were both elected on March 15, in a special election, to the posts they had held after being appointed to replace officials who had resigned.
