GUILDERLAND — Flutist Kathleen O’Mara will perform Claude Bolling’s “Sentimentale” accompanied by the Guilderland Town Band, July 13, at 7:30 at the Guilderland Performing Arts Center in Tawasentha Park. This is the second concert of the band’s 48th season.

GUILDERLAND — Jamal Linton, whom police call the ringleader in a counterfeit credit-card scheme at Crossgates Mall in Guilderland, was sentenced on July 5 to one-and-a-third to four years in state prison.

Linton, 28, of Brooklyn, appeared in Albany County Court before Judge Peter Lynch.

GUILDERLAND — A New Hampshire woman, Brenda Badillo-Vasquez, was charged on June 30 under Leandra’s Law.

ALTAMONT — June Brown McNiven — who served as a nurse in World War II and was devoted to her family — died on Sunday, June 23, 2017, in Ogunquit, Maine, one day shy of her 100th birthday.

GUILDERLAND — Sandee Piculell was known for her loving care and generosity with her family and friends, and with the children she helped at Guilderland’s Farnsworth Middle School.

Ms. Piculell died on Friday, July 7, 2017, surrounded by people who loved her. She was 65.

Many Guilderland Players have gone on to successful careers involving the arts.  These are a few of them from across the years.

Guilderland students graduated in a ceremony held June 24 in the SEFCU Arena. 

Concern for material success was not a dominant theme of the speeches at Guilderland’s commencement ceremony on June 24, 2017. Instead, speakers advised graduates to speak the truth, learn to listen, and empathize with others.

Located behind Passonno Paints, off Western Ave, in Guilderland, Barber's Farm stand opened for the season on June 26. Open M-F 12-5:30.

The Guilderland Public Library is working with architectural firm Butler Rowland Mays to come up with a long-range plan for improvements that can be implemented little by little over time.
