Administrators, teachers, and students continue to wrestle with making sure that students’ personal electronic devices have a constructive role to play in school.

GUILDERLAND — Alumni and alumnae of the Guilderland High School Track and Field and Cross Country teams are hosting a reunion on Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Western Turnpike Golf Course from 5 to 8 p.m.  All past team members, coaches, parents, and friends are welcome.

ALBANY —  Richard John Mosley — “a techno wiz,” his family wrote, who “lived his life with zest and great enthusiasm” — died on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018. He was 42.

Born on Sept. 11, 1975 in Albany, he was the son of Robert John and the late Donna Lynn Mosley Simpson.

ALTAMONT — A decade-old tradition for the Altamont Volunteer Fire Department has a new twist.

GUILDERLAND — There is no specific target date yet for the opening of the dual-branded Hilton hotel in front of Crossgates Mall yet, said the hotel’s director of sales, Emily Cuda. “We just say ‘fall,’” she said.

“We’re on the cusp of months, so I don’t want to say one and it be the other,” Cuda said.

Part of Mercy Care Lane is now owned by the town.

GUILDERLAND — The Albany County Land Bank this week acquired the Governors Motor Inn, an abandoned property on Guilderland’s main thoroughfare, Route 20.

The land bank has taken possession of the inn, which was gutted by fire in 2010, as well as a house on the property.
