Last Thursday through Saturday, the Guilderville girls’ swim team competed in the Section 2, Division 1 swim and dive championships at Shenendehowa Aquatic Center.
On Saturday, Nov. 4, the Guilderland girls’ volleyball team competed for the Section 2, Class AA sectional championship at Saratoga High School, for the first time in 11 years, against Columbia. The Dutch spiked and dug every ball but fell in five sets; 18-25, 28-26, 25-23, 12-25, 9-15.
Last Wednesday, Nov. 1, Guilderland field hockey competed in the Class A New York State High School Athletic Association State Subregionals hosted at home against Section 1’s Mamaroneck. The Tigers didn’t give the Dutch much to work with and the Dutch fell 3-0.
The Purple Line joins an already established 17-mile Red Line, on Route 5, running between Albany and Schenectady, and 15-mile Blue Line, running along the Hudson River, connecting Albany, Cohoes, Menands, Troy, Waterford, and Watervliet.
Guilderland tax bills will look different for 2024, with the general fund showing a major increase, of 175 percent. But this is offset by the elimination of three separate lines on the tax bill: for the state retirement system, for election costs passed on by the county, and for the Altamont and Guilderland ambulance districts. The tax increase is actually 2.85 percent.
