Trump doesn’t seem bothered by his haters’ speech

To the Editor:

Regarding recent letters to The Enterprise: Despite the “Nazi” now in office as the United States president, and despite the “Nazi’s” complete lack of respect for freedom of speech, The Enterprise and others continue to speak as if they were still free to do so, without fear of being “disappeared” in the night.

Thus far, judging by the lack of “disappeared” folks, the “Nazi,” aka President Donald Trump, doesn’t seem bothered by his haters’ speech.

The “Nazi” almost seems as if he has bigger things to do, from ending Hamas’s war to destroy Israel from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea, and beyond, to trying to bend down the United States government deficit spending curve.

Perhaps, because each U.S. citizen’s share of the national debt is $110,000, he is not paying attention to his detractors’ letters to The Enterprise.

What could you do with your $110,000 share of the U.S. national debt, if you had the money, instead of you being on the hook to pay that money back? Now, our local area U.S. government officials demand to saddle you and your kids and grandkids with more debt.

The new debt they demand, is in part to continue COVID-era temporary taxpayer subsidies to folks for the unaffordable Affordable Care Act’s Obamacare. Poor and middle-class folks can’t afford even taxpayer-subsidized “affordable care,” but folks with incomes of up to $500,000 yearly buy the subsidized insurance. The $110,000 figure can be found by asking the internet to divide the total U.S. government debt, by the number of U.S. citizens.

It is a pleasure to read the opinions of both those who agree with the perspectives of the editor, without editorial comment on those opinions, and other people. Long live freedom of speech!

Editor’s note: “We took the freedom of speech away …,” President Donald Trump said at a White House event on Oct. 8, attempting to explain his call to imprison people who burn the American flag despite a very clear Supreme Court decision that lists flag-burning as free speech.

Last month, U.S. District Judge William Young ruled that the Trump administration impermissibly chilled the protected political speech of university professors and students by targeting non-citizens on college campuses who have spoken out in support of Palestinians. Trump has offered federal funds to universities and colleges only if they curb free speech on campus.

His attorney general, Pam Bondi, promised to go after “hate speech” by people whom she perceived as celebrating the death of Charlie Kirk, violating several Supreme Court precedents.

The list goes on as the president has threatened a wide-ranging crackdown on mainstream media and political opponents.
