Guilderland

On Saturday, Dec. 28, the Guilderland Indoor track team traveled to Utica College to battle against 27 other schools in the CNY Holiday Classic. Both the girls’ and boys’ squads showed their talents as the girls won with 180 points and the boys took second with 70.

The year 2024 was a time for both the town of Guilderland and the school district to look forward.

The brawl was filmed and the video posted to social media. The video shows a man wearing a yellow jacket labeled “Security” standing back as the fight unfolds. Then a burly police officer, wearing a vest labeled “K-9 Unit,” wades into the melée, breaking up the fight.

In the year 2024, the Guilderland and Berne-Knox-Westerlo schools made history.

On Saturday, Dec. 21, the Guilderland Dutchmen boys’ basketball team participated in the Coaches vs. Cancer game at Siena College as they took on Glens Falls High School. The Black Bears’ shooting was on point as the Dutch fell, 82 to 49.

On Friday, Dec. 20, the Guilderland girls’ wrestling squad participated in the second Holiday Headlocks tournament at Niskayuna High School. All five wrestlers placed in the top six.

The Guilderland School Board was chosen for the “nice” list because it filled a board vacancy by conducting interviews in a public videotaped session. Mark Grimm was lauded for his push for government transparency.

No formal application has been submitted to the town, but members of the development team looking to build the project at 6 and 10 Mercy Care Lane met this week with Guilderland’s Development Planning Committee.
