NEW SCOTLAND — John M. Bagyi, a lawyer in the Albany office for Bond, Schoeneck & King PLLC, has been named one of the Lawdragon 500 Leading U.S. Corporate Employment Lawyers.

A 1989 graduate of Guilderland High School, Bagyi lives in Voorheesville with his wife, Dania, and their daughters, Kennedy and McKenna.

Several school board members said they would like to see the district meet the dietary needs of, for example, Jewish students who keep kosher or Muslim students who follow dietary laws specifying which foods are halal, or lawful, and which are haram, or unlawful.

On Tuesday, Sept. 20, the Guilderland girls’ tennis team hosted the Shaker Bison, a team they haven’t beaten in the regular season in four years. That changed this week, as Guilderland won, 7 to 2.

“We went down this pathway, as a team, of figuring out: How do we honor those that came before us and were the original stewards of this land?”

A native redbud tree stands in front of the Schoolcraft House, and a plaque dedicating it to Alice Begley, who served as the Guilderland town historian from 1994 to 2016, was celebrated on Wednesday, Sept. 14, in an event hosted by the Guilderland Garden Club.

The district was “very active” in the nine weeks over the summer getting work done on capital projects  — one passed in 2019 and the other in 2021 — said Assistant Superintendent for Business Neil Sanders.

The club recently submitted formal plans to the town of Guilderland seeking to change its zoning designations from rural agricultural and single-family residential to that of a Country Hamlet District.

Coach Chris Scanlon said that the indoor track team is about the same size as the outdoor track team, which has seven full-time coaches compared to only three for indoor track.
