Last Thursday, Apr. 20, it was senior night for the BKW track team as they hosted Mayfield/Northville and Mekeel Christian Academy. The girls lost to Mayfield/Northville (84-53) but won against Mekeel (72.5-43.5), the boys lost to Mayfield/Northville (75-63) and won against Mekeel (83-33).

Last Wednesday, April 12, the BKW softball team hosted a non-league game against Catholic Central. The Bulldogs pounced on the Crusaders early but the Crusaders came back in the seventh inning to stun the Bulldogs, 9 to 5.

WESTERLO — Elton Crounse Jr. was a tough dad with a heart of gold, and a recluse who made it to every party he was invited to.

He died at home on Friday, April 7, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was 76. 

EAST BERNE — Edith Williamson, a loving mother and grandmother, died peacefully on Monday, March 20, 2023. She was 95.

She was the daughter of the late Edwin and Elsie Bartels and the wife of the late Merlin Williamson.

 

BERNE — Clifford Lloyd Whitely, of Berne, was an Army veteran with a love for the outdoors and a dedication to the family he created with his wife of 52 years. Mr. Whitely died on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at the age of 75. 

BERNE – Vincent and Debra Cardella of Schoharie have announced the engagement of their daughter, Erica S. Cardella, of Niskayuna, to Wade C. Ackroyd of Colonie, formerly of Berne. He is the son of Ed and Valerie Ackroyd of Berne.

On Friday, Feb. 24, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo boys’ basketball team made the trip up to Shenendehowa High School for the Section 2, Class C quarterfinal matchup as the fourth-seeded Bulldogs took on fifth-seed Hadley Luzerne.

KNOX — Dr. Paul Willing and Ms. Collie Goldstein from Knox are happy to announce the marriage of their son, Dr. Jari Willing, to Katherine Snodgrass, daughter of Jean and Richard Snodgrass of Perrysburg, Ohio.

Their marriage celebration was held in Ohio on Sept. 24, 2022.

On Thursday, Feb. 2, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo girls basketball team hosted a rescheduled game against Schoharie at Berne-Knox-Westerlo High School. The Bulldogs defense pounced all over the Indians from start to finish in their 63 to 18 win.

On Saturday, Jan. 28, the indoor track teams of Berne-Knox-Westerlo and Voorheesville battled it out for sectional titles in the Section 2, Division 4 competition at Union College. Final standings won’t be known until Saturday when the school’s throwers compete in shot put and weight throw.
