As an active member of our community, I would like to invite you to a coffee, chat, and tour of Switzkill Farm, the land purchased in 2015 by the Town of Berne. 9 to 11 a.m. in the Great Room of the Lodge, located at 165 Game Farm Road in Berne. Ted Kunker, Chair of the Switzkill Farm Board,  will welcome you with a short overview of the property, explain how it has been used so far, and talk about future plans.

Annual Roast Pork Supper at 4:30 p.m. Route 143 in Westerlo across from Hannay Reels. No reservations needed. Roast Pork, mashed potatoes/gravy, sauerkraut, green beans, rolls and homemade cream puffs for dessert. Drinks included. Adults $12, children under 12 $5. Take-outs add $1.

Vendor fair: Warren, Washington, and Albany Counties Chapter of NYSARC, Inc., a nonprofit that supports nearly 1,000 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities,  is hosting a Vendor Fair. 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at 334 Krumkill Road, Slingerlands, NY 12159.

Holiday Vendor Show, Voorheesville American Legion. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free. There will be a Crock Pot bar and fresh baked goods available for purchase.

BKW PTA Jean Forti Run for Education/Family Fun Run at Thompson's Lake Campground - the Kids Fun Run will be at 12:15, followed by the 5K at 1 pm.

Those who have served our country and continue to serve have some incredible stories to tell. Join us for the sharing of stories from Veterans and active military members as a way to learn and to honor their service. Rob Spohr, who was deployed to Iraq in 2004 and later served in the NY National Guard, will be sharing his experiences as the Program Assistant for Songwriting with Soldiers.  Local author and Iraqi Veteran, Ryan Smithson, will speak about his time in the Army Corps of Engineers and about his passion for helping other Veterans tell their story.

Albany County Executive Announces HEAP Presentation at ACCESS Hilltowns Office (Berne Community and Senior Services Center , Route 443). 12:30 to 2 p.m. for a presentation about the Home Heating Assistance Program (HEAP).  The Cornell Cooperative Extension CHOICES Program will give an overview of the HEAP program, which opens on November 13.  

Smokey Bear Day. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Drop in and meet Smokey Bear and friends at the Albany Pine Bush Discovery Center! Learn from Smokey how the Albany Pine Bush Preserve Commission uses prescribed fire to keep this habitat healthy. There will be prescribed fire equipment on hand for visitors to see and try out, a relay race for kids and Smokey goody bags for visitors to take home. All ages. 195 New Karner Road, Albany. Free. Memorial Walk from noon to 4 p.m. Saratoga Spa State Park. This free family event, held in observance of National Pregnancy Loss and Infant Death Awareness month, aims to increase awareness of stillbirth and pregnancy loss and to provide support to families affected by child loss.
