    On Aug. 25 from 1 to 3 p.m. join us for Salad Spinner Art on the library lawn).  We'll have a crazy good time spinning paint in our salad spinners and creating works of art - first on paper plates and then on a Frisbee that you can take home! This is a drop in event so come at any time between 1 and 3 p,m. to make your creation. Popsicles, of course, will be provided. Concert

On Aug. 11 at 10:30 a.m. a live family music concert with Turtle Dance Music (Zoom).  This performance celebrates famous children's stories and songs about animals including a few written by adults on the autism spectrum! The show will also celebrate biodiversity - the more wild our planet is the healthier it is! Kids will dance, sing, laugh, use their imaginations and connect with new friends. The show is crafted to be inclusive for all children, including children on the Autism Spectrum, and a great time for parents and caregivers! Each song in the 40-minute show is accompanied by hands-on, visual, and sensory experiences designed to help kids learn and have fun at the same time. This event is taking place on the Zoom platform. On Aug. 12 at 1 p.m. join us for a discussion of  "Julie of The Wolves" by Jean Craighead George. The thrilling Newbery Medal–winning classic about an Eskimo girl lost on the Alaskan Tundra. This middle grade novel is an excellent choice for tween readers in grades 5 to 6, especially during homeschooling. It’s a fun way to keep your child entertained and engaged while not in the classroom. Registration is Required.

Stories of Strange Things

On Aug. 12 at 7 p.m. Ghost Stories at the Dr. Best House Museum (the Best House).  Volunteers from the Dr. Best House Museum and Gary Robusto from Tri-City Paranormal group will tell their stories of strange things that have happened inside the museum. Share your stories with the group and tell us what you think as we discuss all things that go bump in the night. Of course, we'll bring out the fire pit and toast marshmallows as well - and if we dare - we'll take a walk through  the museum in the dark! This Program is for kids going into 6th grade and up. Storytime Drive-In

On Aug. 4 at 10:30 a.m. Summer Sunshine Storytime - Storytime Drive-In.  On the library lawn.  Each child will have a cardboard box "car" that they create and sit in while we read books about cars, trucks, and things that go. There will be popcorn and drinks! Caregivers should bring a blanket or chair to sit on next to their little person's car. This program is for preschoolers ages 2 - 6 and is dependent on good weather. Registration is required.

Crime Lab

On Aug. 5 at 1 p.m. Teen Crime Lab Science (online).  Learn about forensic science and how evolving technology helps scientists and detectives discover the truth about mysterious criminal cases. “Detectives in training” participate in a mock investigation where they identify the main types of fingerprints, explore the science of chromatography, learn about DNA and how to extract it, and use all of the evidence to identify the culprit. Supplies for this event are provided from the MiSci Museum and will be available for pick-up at the library.  A private Zoom link will be emailed to you before this class takes place. This program is for kids going into 6th grade and up.  Registration is required.

Magic Cards

On Aug. 6 at 6 p.m. join us for Teens "Magic the Gathering".  Bring your Magic Cards and let's play Magic the Gathering! This program is for players who should have a basic understanding of the game.  Pizza and drinks will be available. 
This program is for Teens going into 6th grade through 12th.  This is an in-person event and spaces are limited and registration is required.

On July 27 at 1 p.m. join us for Tails & Tales: Clay Animal Bowls on the library lawn).  Registration required, begins Jun 23.  Educators from the Studio for Art and Crafts will be here to help you make and glaze your very own animal bowl. Choose from six different designs or create your own! Pieces will be fired and returned to the library on Aug. 3 for you to pick up. This program will take place outside and is dependent on weather. Tails & Tales

 On July 28 at 1 p.m. Tails & Tales Tie-Dye Shirts  on the library lawn. Bring a plain white tee shirt and have fun making your own tie -dyed creation. This program is for kids going into 6th grade and up. Registration is required.

Then on July 29, at 1 p.m. Tails & Tales: Mother/Daughter American Girl Tea Party in the Community Room. Step back in time as we explore the world of American Girl Samantha Parkington!  Bring your dolls (It does NOT have to be an American Girl Doll) and your Mom to the library where we'll talk about what it was like to be a girl in 1904. You'll make a Victorian  calling card to bring to the Best House where we'll have our tea party outside on the front porch.  Girls and Moms will meet "Mrs. Best," enjoy lemonade and cookies and have a personal tour of the house.  Each girl will go home with a goodie bag! This program is for children going into grade 2 through 6.  Registration is limited and attendees must register and follow all COVID guidelines.

Cryptozoology

On July 14 at 1 p.m. join us and Make a Mermaid or Dragon Tail on the library’s back lawn.  Cryptozoology is the study of animals that are rumored to exist like the Loch Ness Monster or Bigfoot. We'll talk about mythical animals and then you can choose to make a mermaid tail or a dragon tail to take home!  This program is for kids going into grades 3 to 5. Registration is required.

An exciting project for teens starts on July 5 at 1:30 p.m.: The Hundred Author Story.

Do you like to write? Do you have great ideas for a story?

Check out our Hundred Author Story journal with your library card — the first paragraph of the story is written. You have three days to write the next paragraph. Return the journal so someone else can write in it and add to the story.

We’ll keep passing it around all summer so we can complete the book. When it is finished, it will be added to the library collection for others to borrow. You may work on the Hundred Author Story from July 5 through Aug. 16. Registration is required.
