NEW SCOTLAND — The New Scotland Democratic Committee will have three new members, while the top vote-getter in the most recent town board election lost his seat, according to unofficial primary results from the Albany Board of Election.

ALTAMONT — On Sept. 5, Robert Rabbin, a Main Street resident, complained to the village board about gaps in the pavement on his street — the state’s Route 146 — at the railroad crossing next to library.

NEW SCOTLAND — A process that began over a decade ago, paused, and recommenced in May 2017, came to a quiet conclusion on Wednesday night as the town board unanimously approved an update to New Scotland’s comprehensive plan.

New Scotland first adopted a comprehensive plan in 1960 and updated it 35 years later in 1995.

VOORHEESVILLE — Encore! Books, at the Voorheesville Public Library, is the brainchild Sherry Burgoon, but it’s her sister, Patty Miller, who has made it a success.

Two Clarksville residents were arrested at a State Police occupant-safety checkpoint, after the 3-year-old girl who was riding in the back of the car handed a trooper a pouch containing marijuana and related paraphernalia.

The Guilderland Chamber of Commerce reached out recently to businesses in Altamont in an effort to form a village business committee. Michelle Viola-Straight, the chamber’s president, said the chamber is also looking to expand into Voorheesville and the Hilltowns.

With each passing year, fewer and fewer all-volunteer ambulance squads remain in the area, replaced with full-time paid employees.

A new club at Voorheesville Elementary School has joined the media landscape. Blackbirds on the Wing, a podcast club, recently posted its first episode titled, “The Nature of Fads.”
