Warner Lake, in Berne

The United States Board on Geographic Names has changed the name of Warner Lake, in Berne, to Warners Lake, following a proposal submitted by the Warners Lake Improvement Association last summer.

The Berne Town Board has appointed business-owner Joe Martin to the town planning board for an approximately two-year term, filling a vacancy left by former planning board member Todd Schwendeman.

In the 102nd Assembly District, Republican Chris Tague is defending his seat against Betsy Kraat, a Democrat.

Westerlo’s tentative 2021 budget calls for a 5.93-percent property-tax increase and a revenue reduction of $213,496.

At least 15 people spoke before the Rensselaerville Town Board on Oct. 8, sharing their stance on whether the town should denounce the Confederate flag.

Berne has released its tentative 2021 budget, providing the first comprehensive look at the town’s mid-pandemic finances.

Spending is down in Rensselaerville’s tentative 2021 budget, but only by a margin, and revenues are likewise only down a touch, leaving a budget that’s much the same as the budget the town board adopted in 2020.

Knox’s tentative 2021 budget indicates there will be no townwide property tax increase next year.

The New York State Supreme Court has upheld its decision to dismiss an Article 78 filed by Christine Duffy, of Westmere, against the town of Guilderland over her neighbor’s driveway expansion because it was filed too late.

Guilderland and Knox were exempt from a fiscal stress review performed by the office of the state comptroller because neither town filed its annual update documents on time.
