Berne’s three Democratic council members passed two resolutions on Sept. 11 that will put the metal detector, which the town already has and uses for its court sessions, in use for town board meetings, and also for zoning board and planning board meetings if the people who chair those boards call for it.
A barricaded yard near a dangerous curve on Helderberg Trail in Berne couldn’t prevent a 30-foot boat from flying like a softball after the surge brake on the trailer carrying the boat didn’t work.
“These are general regulations for large- and small-scale solar,” said Deputy Supervisor Jason Rauf. “It’s not in favor or opposed. It’s just basic regulations.”
“I sit behind a desk all week,” said Matthew Mead. “This is an opportunity for me to get away from my email, get away from my phone — to recharge. I get down on my hands and knees and play in the dirt.”
“You wouldn’t go to court without a lawyer,” Ned Stevens told the Westerlo Town Board as it debated hiring a consultant to help develop its comprehensive plan.
