The Music Mobile will stop in seven Albany County sites this summer, including the Altamont Free Library on Wednesday, Aug. 28, at 3:30 p.m.

Firefighters will return to the village to share and celebrate. The public is encouraged to join in the festivities.

VOORHEESVILLE — After months of negotiating, the village board reluctantly agreed in June with a split vote to sign a modified contract with the Voorheesville Area Ambulance squad, leaving just two months remaining until a new contract would be necessary. As of press time, the ambulance squad has not yet returned a signed contract.

VOORHEESVILLE — Residents packed village hall Tuesday to ask the board to use village water as a tool to control the next phase of Claremont Estates, a housing development in their neighborhood, only weeks after the town’s planning board reviewed the plan for the second phase of the development that falls outside the village limits.

ALTAMONT — The village appointed its new superintendent and assistant superintendent of public works in April, keeping and promoting two long-term employees.



KNOX Rumors that the Father Peter Young Housing, Industries, and Treatment center in Knox has been sold are untrue, according to center officials.



VOORHEESVILLE Albany County Executive Daniel McCoy met with village and town residents at Village Hall here Tuesday to give his overview of the county budget and a brief version of his State of the County address, but local supporters of the proposed rail trail derailed his visit.



BERNE The Reverend Wendy Cook will be installed at a ceremony this Sunday afternoon, as she answers the call to serve as pastor at the Helderberg Evangelical Lutheran Church.

“I love it here. I just love it here. I’ve been totally embraced by the people here,” Cook said.



VOORHEESVILLE Village residents will see a 3-cent tax increase, if the village board adopts its proposed $1.99 million budget next week.

The tax rate will be $1.18 per $1,000 of assessed value, up from $1.15 per $1,000 this year.



VOORHEESVILLE — St. Matthew's Catholic Church will begin its 50th anniversary celebration next weekend, kicking off a year of activities marking its presence in the village.
