After an extremely close special election in April, Assemblyman Chris Tague, a Republican, has kept his seat in the 102nd District of the State Assembly, according to unofficial election results.

A Berne man has been arrested with over half a dozen charges related to abusing a child.

An argument between two students and the mention of weapon led to a Berne-Knox-Westerlo bus driver using a “panic button,” part of new radio installed on the bus, to contact law enforcement to respond.

At Berne-Knox-Westerlo, teachers use the framework of an educational program to help students learn behavior with rewards.

The implementation of Raise the Age legislation means 16- and 17-year-olds will no longer be tried as adults. But should a young person deemed an “adolescent offender” be detained while awaiting trial, they may only be sent to one of eight facilities in the state.

Muriel Frasher and Ronald Bates are the only town candidates on the ballot in Rensselaerville this November — an off year for town elections. 

A Rensselaerville man was charged for sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl for several years as well as strangling her at least once in 2014 while living in the town of Westerlo, according to the Albany County Sheriff’s Office.

After a close election in April, Schoharie Republican Chris Tague won the race to represent the 102nd Assembly District after Republican Peter Lopez stepped down. His Democratic opponent, Aidan O’Connor, is again challenging him in the November election.

Angelo Santabarbara

Angelo Santabarbara, a Democrat who has represented the 111th Assembly District since its creation, is being challenged by a Republican Schenectady County legislator, Brian McGarry, who said he is looking to win the rural portions of a district that runs from Montgomery County, to Schenectady County, and to the Hilltowns.

John E. McIntyre, who is on the state’s sex offender registry, was charged with additional crimes following his initial arrest last week in an investigation by the Albany County Sheriff’s Office.
