On Tuesday, Feb. 25, the third-seeded Voorheesville boys hosted a first-round Section 2, Class B sectional game against 14-seed Cairo-Durham. The Mustangs kept the game close in the first half but the Blackbirds dug their talons in and pulled away with a 61-to-41 win.

On Tuesday, Feb. 25, the Guilderland Unified bowling squad took on Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake at Boulevard Bowl. The Dutch had a dominant showing as the team won, 7 to 2.

On Monday morning, Feb. 24, the Guilderland Nordic skiing team took to the chilly Ski Bowl at Gore Mountain in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association's Nordic state championship. Guilderland had two competitors, Landon Kinal and Nathaniel Burke.

This past weekend, Feb. 15 and 17, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo, Guilderland, and Voorheesville indoor track teams competed in their Section 2 divisional championships at Hudson Valley Community College to compete for a spot in Saturday’s state qualifiers.

From Thursday to Saturday, Feb. 13 to 15, the Guilderland-Voorheesville swim team competed against the other top Division 1 schools in the Section 2 championships at Shenendehowa High School. Isak Brkanovic qualified for multiple events at states on March 7.

Last Wednesday, Feb. 12, the Guilderland gymnastics team took part in the Section 2 championships at Shaker High School. The Dutch performed well in all four events as they finished fourth with 156.150 points, and Simona Scavio qualified for states on the floor exercise.

Last Wednesday, Feb. 12, the Guilderland Nordic ski team took part in the Section 2 championships at the Gore Mountain Nordic Center against 10 other teams. The Dutch shredded the snow away as Guilderland’s Nathaniel Burke and Landon Kinal qualified for the boys.

On Tuesday, Feb. 11, the Voorheesville Blackbirds’ bowling squad took part in the Section 2, Class B sectionals at Boulevard Bowl in Schenectady. The Blackbirds bowled well to finish sixth overall out of 24 teams with 5438 in total pins.

On Monday, Feb. 10, the Guilderland bowling squad took to the lanes at Boulevard Bowl in Schenectady to take on the other schools in Class A. The Dutch finished fifth in Class A with 5881 total pins in the six-game set.

On Saturday, Feb. 8, the Guilderland wrestling team competed in the Section 2, Division 1, Class 1 sectionals at Niskayuna High School. Guilderland finished seventh with 99 points and will send seven to Sunday’s Division 1 state qualifiers.

On Friday, Feb. 7, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo bowling squad took on 19 other Section 2, Class C bowling teams at Boulevard Bowl in the Section 2 championships for the right to battle for a state title. The Bulldogs finished 19th with 3,673 total pins in the six games.

On Sunday, Feb. 2, the Guilderland competitive cheer squad took to the mat at Scotia-Glenville High School for the 24th annual Scotia-Glenville Spirit Invitational in the Class A division. Guilderland showed off its acrobatics and team spirit, finishing in second place.

On Saturday, Feb. 1, in a Sectional-type atmosphere, Berne-Knox-Westerlo and Voorheesville battled on the court for the Helderberg Cup at Clayton A. Bouton High School. It was a physical matchup all game long as the Bulldogs pulled out a 58-to-51 win, securing the Helderberg Cup.
