Photos: Guilderville Swims Hard At Sectionals, Brkanovic States-Bound

From Thursday to Saturday, Feb. 13 to 15, the Guilderland-Voorheesville swim team competed against the other top Division 1 schools in the Section 2 championships at Shenendehowa High School. Isak Brkanovic qualified for multiple events at states on March 7.

Gaining time: Guilderville’s Juneau Wilford gets a breath of air as the water trickles off his arms as he swims in the 100-yard butterfly. Wilford finished 15th on Friday with a time of 1:00.93 then on Saturday finished 15th overall.

Good pace: Guilderville’s Hayden Heckler gets a breath of air as he brings his right arm forward in the 500-yard freestyle. Heckler finished in 18th overall with a time of 5:24.25.

Long reach: Guilderville’s Thomas Zeliph brings his right arm backwards as he pushes off from the wall during his first lap in the 100-yard backstroke. Zeliph finished 4th overall with a time of 56.38 on Friday then finished fifth overall on Saturday.

Wave maker: Guilderville’s Isak Brkanovic pops up from under the water as he swims in the 100-yard breaststroke. Brkanovic had the top spot on Friday with a time of 58.94 seconds then on Saturday won the event.
