On Tuesday, Nov. 28, both Guilderland and Voorheesville bowling teams opened up their season at home. The Dutch faced off against Colonie and the Birds took on LaSalle. Guilderland won 23-9 (3437-3338 total pins) and Voorheesville won 26-6 (3178-2047 total pins).

On Sunday, Nov. 19, 285 runners took part in a half marathon, 13.1 miles, that started at the Altamont Fairgrounds in Altamont. Morgan Stippa from Coxsackie took the top spot with a time of 1:21:27.

On Sunday, Nov. 12, the Guilderland boys’ soccer team competed in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Class AA Championship at Middletown High School. The Dutch battled till the final whistle but fell, 4 to 2.

On Saturday, Nov. 11, Guilderland, Berne-Knox-Westerlo, and Voorheesville cross-country runners competed against the top runners in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association competition at Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School in Verona.

Last Wednesday, Nov. 8, seven Guilderland athletes signed their national letter of intent to play collegiate sports at their respective universities.

Last Wednesday, Nov. 8, Voorheesville’s Lily Farrell, their new all-time leading goal scorer, 118, surrounded by her parents and teammates signed on the dotted line for her national letter of intent to play division one soccer at Siena College.

On Saturday, Nov. 3, the Guilderland, Voorheesville and Berne-Knox-Westerlo cross-country teams competed in the Section 2 cross-country championships at Queensbury High School. The Voorheesville girls’ team repeated as champs.

Last Thursday through Saturday, the Guilderville girls’ swim team competed in the Section 2, Division 1 swim and dive championships at Shenendehowa Aquatic Center.

On Saturday, Nov. 4, the Guilderland girls’ volleyball team competed for the Section 2, Class AA sectional championship at Saratoga High School, for the first time in 11 years, against Columbia. The Dutch spiked and dug every ball but fell in five sets; 18-25, 28-26, 25-23, 12-25, 9-15.

On Friday, Nov. 3, the Voorheesville Blackbirds traveled to Plattsburgh High School to take on Section 7’s Saranac for the right to play in the NYSPHSAA state semifinals in the regional championship. The Birds couldn’t get past the Spartans’ defense and fell 3-0.

Last Wednesday, Nov. 1, Guilderland field hockey competed in the Class A New York State High School Athletic Association State Subregionals hosted at home against Section 1’s Mamaroneck. The Tigers didn’t give the Dutch much to work with and the Dutch fell 3-0.

On Friday, Oct. 27, the sixth seeded Berne-Knox-Westerlo girls’ volleyball team competed in the Section 2, Class C quarterfinal matchup against third-seeded Maple Hill at Maple Hill High School. The Bulldogs played hard but fell three sets to one; 20-25, 22-25, 25-16, 25-15.

On Monday, Oct. 30, the third-seeded Guilderland boys’ soccer team looked to end a 10-year championship drought as they faced off against fourth-seeded Niskayuna at Queensbury High School in the Section 2, Class AA championship. The Dutch struck early and ended that drought by winning 5-0.

On Friday, Oct. 27, the top-seeded Voorheesville Blackbirds girls’ soccer took on the three seed Mechanicville in the Section 2, Class B sectional championship at Stillwater High School. The Birds scored early and then had to hold on when Mechanicville had a late push to tie.

On Friday, Oct. 27, the Guilderland Unified Bocce team competed in a culminating end of the year tournament at the Italian American Club in Albany.
